The beers

We source most beers locally from the fifty plus breweries in Sussex. Others are sourced from breweries that provide excellent flavour and quality.

There are usually three beers available during the week, with four or five at weekends.

The beers change on a daily basis so we wouldn’t want you to travel to find that the beer you are looking forward to has been drunk! We post the weekend beers on Facebook and Twitter so you will know which beers have just been tapped.

The ciders

We take as much care with our ciders as we do with the beer, offering an amazing choice that will hopefully suit everybody’s taste. We always have some cider in the fridge for those that prefer it that way. Some are from local producers but many come from the traditional cider areas of Great Britain. However, a particular favourite comes all the way from Scotland, Thistly Cross Whisky Cask, which is a ‘must’ at the Old Star!

The alternatives

For those of you who are not tempted by our selection of beers and ciders we also have an excellent selection of wines, including Prosecco, as well as Folkington’s soft drinks and juices which are all made locally in Sussex.

We also serve a ‘Gin of the Month’ which is a local Sussex gin paired carefully with the right mixer and accompaniments, depending on the botanicals in the gin.

If you fancy a whisky after your pint we have recently introduced a small selection for you to try and we’re always open to new suggestions!
